Our beloved pets are often part of the family festivities during the Lunar New Year. To enjoy a safe and healthy time with our furry companions, here are some festive foods that should be kept out of their reach.

UNSAFE CNY FOODS FOR PETS

Bak Kwa – Foods high in fats like bak kwa should be avoided as they can cause pancreatic & heart problems.

Alcohol –   Pets get intoxicated easier than us and vomiting disorientation and stupor may be observed if consumed.

Pineapple Tarts – Made with egg yolks & butter these festive cookies are high in fat and sugar & should not be feed to your pets.

Mandarin Oranges –    Mandarin Oranges are not poisonous but are high in sugar and you should avoid giving your pet many of these.

Yu Sheng – The raw fish in yu sheng may contain a parasite that can be potentially fatal & should not be fed to your pets.

Cooked Bones – Cooked bones can be brittle and maybe prone to splintering risking damage to the internal organs.
